Coast Guard Community Services Command


Captain Jeff Ferlauto assumed command of the Community Services Command in June 2025. In this role, he is responsible for the leadership and operations of the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX) and the Coast Guard’s Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) programs. CGX is a non-appropriated fund instrumentality that provides centralized management for 64 CGX stores, 40 satellite CGX locations, and all vending and concession services. CGX employs over 800 staff and has average annual sales in excess of $240M, providing an estimated $40M in savings to military members and families. Coast Guard MWR programs are responsible for providing community and recreational programs, activities, and services to Coast Guard members, dependents, and other authorized patrons, contributing to the mission readiness and retention of Service personnel. 

Captain Ferlauto, a native of Newburyport, Massachusetts, enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1998. Subsequent enlisted assignments include Coast Guard Cutter BEAR (WMEC-901) and the Operations System Center as a Telecommunication Specialist. In 2001 he was selected to attend Officer Candidate School at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

Following graduation and commissioning, he served as a Deck Watch Officer aboard CGC CHASE (WMEC-718) in San Diego, California. Additional afloat tours include: Operations Officer, CGC JUNIPER (WLB-201) in Newport, Rhode Island; Operations Officer, CGC CAMPBELL (WMEC-909) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Executive Officer, CGC VIGILANT (WMEC-617) in Cape Canaveral, Florida; Executive Officer, CGC STRATTON (WMSL-752) in Alameda, California; and Commanding Officer, USCGC BEAR (WMEC-901) in Portsmouth, Virginia. 

Captain Ferlauto’s shore tours include assignment to District 17’s Office of Aids to Navigation in Juneau, Alaska. Following post-graduate school, he was assigned to the office of Internal Controls and Audit Remediation (CG-85) at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC. In 2016, he reported to CG BASE Alameda as the Comptroller/Base Operations Department Head. In 2022, he reported to Coast Guard Atlantic Area as the Chief of Cutter Forces. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Resources (LANT-8) for Atlantic Area. 

Captain Ferlauto graduated from Wagner College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. In 2009, he attended Northeastern University where he earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Accounting. 
 
Captain Ferlauto is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed in Massachusetts. 

Captain Ferlauto is a Permanent Cutterman with more than thirteen years of sea time. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (two awards), and the Coast Guard Achievement Medal (four awards), as well as numerous Service and unit awards. 

He is married to the former Alison Fallon of Newburyport, Massachusetts. They have two children, Brooke and Charlie. They also have two dogs (labs); Moose and Peanut.
